The Perfect Valentine’s Day Meal

Hearts are full and love is in the air. Yes, friends, Valentine’s Day is here! You’ve already bought your candy hearts and stuffed love bears but that’s not all you’ll be sharing on February 14. How about a romantic dinner for two?

After exchanging gifts, you’ll sit down to a candlelit dinner, perhaps put on some mood music and turn down the lights. But the big question is, what will you be eating with that special someone?

Start off nice and light with a simple salad—a couple greens, maybe some tomatoes and carrots. You might want to include some asparagus and avocado, which interestingly enough, are both aphrodisiacs. Avoid the Caesar dressing though, garlic may be tasty but is it worth all the breath mints?

For a main course, a pasta-based option is probably the best way to go. You can make it simple with marinara sauce and meatballs. Or you can spice it up a bit, perhaps go for some alfredo or vodka sauce. With pasta, the possibilities are endless; you can let your imagination wander. And who doesn’t like a little lady and tramp action—that’s amore my friends. For the seafood enthusiasts out there, throw some oysters into the mix, another food from the aphrodisiac family.

Finally, we come to dessert, which is the most important part of this meal. My advice for this aspect would be to look up a recipe for something that makes your mouth water (and something you know will make your significant other’s mouth water as well). KEEP IN MIND: The biggest thing to remember for your sweet ending is chocolate. I don’t think you needed me to tell you that, seeing as chocolate is probably the most famous of aphrodisiacs.

There are so many things you can do with chocolate, so pick your pleasure. Chocolate covered strawberries are always a big hit. Maybe bring explosives with a chocolate lava cake. Or perhaps a rich red velvet cake is more your style.  But whatever you do, don’t forget the chocolate sauce! I think it’s safe to say that any dessert you make should be drizzled, if not drowned, with that beautiful liquid. If you want to double up on the aphrodisiacs, incorporate bananas into your dessert.

Let your sweetheart know you care with a tasty, home cooked meal and make this Valentine’s Day one to remember. As the Beatles so beautifully sang, all you need is love.
