Netflix’s biggest hit period drama, Bridgerton, is releasing its fourth season! Since its debut in 2020, Bridgerton has become one of the most popular shows on the streaming platform. With its lavish parties, intricate costumes, and meddling mamas, anticipation for Season 4 is high. Each season follows a different Bridgerton sibling, and Season 4 is no exception. Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) will star this time, giving viewers the opportunity to see the second-oldest Bridgerton in a new light.
Known for his artistic character and free-spirited personality, Benedict is sure to create some drama for viewers this season. Although his quest for love has historically been kept as a B story, the upcoming episodes will follow both his romantic and personal growth.
Besides the show’s tendency to focus on a new sibling each season, Bridgerton is also known for its addition of new characters each season, whether they are brought in as love interests for one of the siblings or there to simply stir the pot. Based on the Season 4 teaser, it looks like all eyes will be on the “Lady in Silver,” who is eventually revealed to be Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). She will no doubt become a suitor for our star sibling. The show seems to draw parallels to the timeless story of Cinderella as Benedict’s pursuit of the identity of the “Lady in Silver” seems to overtake the entirety of the teaser.
The famous Lady Whistledown, who narrates each episode and dishes out gossip to the ton, will continue to be a large presence in the new season. With her identity revealed to be Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan), it will be interesting to see how she copes with her secret being out in the open, especially with her new marriage to Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). However, viewers may not see as much of this storyline as they expect, seeing as Penelope and Colin’s relationship was the focus of Season 3, back when Benedict was seen as more of a background character.
Overall, Season 4 promises viewers more drama in the ton, newcomers that become romantic interests, and characters’ struggles with identity. With Benedict and Sophie as our new leads, there are sure to be new secrets to be uncovered, plot twists, and slow burn romance to keep you watching. The upcoming season will be released in two parts: Part 1 will come out on January 29th with four episodes, and Part 2 will follow on February 26th with the last four. Fans can also look forward to two more seasons of Bridgerton as its renewal for Seasons 5 and 6 has been confirmed!
