Girls Track Off to Impressive Start

Girls’ Outdoor track proved why Harriton is just generally better than LM at its first meet against Upper Darby and Lower Merion on Wednesday, March 26th. The freshman girls showed their talent by defeating multiple upperclassmen from both LM and Upper Darby in the distance races. Freshman Tasha Greene placed second in the 2 mile with a time of 12:15 (about 6:07 for two miles in a row!). Greene was about 40 seconds ahead of third place. Freshman Ella Milani placed 6th in the mile run with her first high school sub-six mile in 5:53, less than 10 seconds behind first place. The state-qualifying girls’ 4 x 800m relay showed that, even with some different faces on the relay squad, the 800m is Harriton’s race. The relay, composed of sophomore Remy Hill, junior Laney O’Shea, and freshmen Juliet Milani and Tasha Greene, won the relay race by about 50 meters. The freshmen girls took the relay from 3rd to 1st place with Milani’s split of 2:40, and Greene’s split of 2:26.

The following Wednesday, the girls had a second meet against Conestoga and Marple Newtown. The girls’ 4 x800m relay, composed this time of freshmen Sammy Feingold, Maddy Fisher, Ella Milani, and Tasha Greene, won again, leading the entire race. Tasha Greene also won the 800m run. In the 2 mile race, freshman Ella Milani and sophomore Kyleen Considine worked together the entire race to take second and third. The girls’ 4x400m relay composed of Laney O’Shea, Remy Hill, Tasha Greene and Audrey Krumenacker took second.
