Softball Senior Night

Softball celebrated its senior night on Monday, honoring its six amazing seniors: Ellie Mearns, Laura Walsh, Natalie Jones, Rachel Wortham, Sophia Klevan, and Kirsten Hoehn. Mearns, Walsh, and Jones have all been on the team for four years. Mearns plays infield, usually covering the crucial 1st base. Walsh can play almost any position: pitcher, catcher, you name it. She has been the starting catcher every game this year. Jones, a power-hitter, also plays many positions, swinging between infield and outfield. Wortham has been on the team playing outfield ever since she came to Harriton last year. Klevan joined the team as an underclassman, but was out last season due to an injury. She came roaring back this year to play a great season. Last but not least, Hoehn, who joined this year plays outfield and leads the team in spirit. Each and every one of the seniors contributed in uncountable ways to the team and will definitely be missed next year. The girls all received flowers for their years of dedication.

Unfortunately among the celebration, the Rams lost 12-6 to Strath Haven. The girls had a great first inning, keeping their opponents to one run with great fielding by the entire team. The Rams also scored 4 in the first inning, with a home run by junior, Lyndsey Diebel. As the game continued, however, the Rams started to slip, and were eventually overrun by Strath Haven. Regardless, it was a terrific effort, and the entire team had a great showing! Congratulations seniors!
