Boys’ and Girls’ Swim Teams Start Season With 1-1 Records

On Wednesday, December 9, the Harriton boys’ and girls’ swim teams began their seasons swimming against Penncrest. Captains William Snyder, Theodore Kotler, and Thomas Borgesse led the boys to a win. This is the first time in five years that the team has won a Central League meet.

Snyder set a personal record time in the 100-yard breaststroke. Anthony Borgesse in the 500-yard freestyle and Alec Maloney in the 100-yard backstroke both achieved particularly great performances. In addition, Nick Anstadt, Thomas Borgesse, and Christo Snyder all posted solid times.

Unfortunately, the equally strong girls’ team, led by captains Tess Laren, Bridget Latoff, Melissa Grossman, and Sara Walker, lost a close meet on Wednesday. On Friday’s meet versus Lower Moreland High School, however, the girls earned a win, while the boys lost by 10 points (two events).

Both teams now have a record of 1-1, and under the coaching of Dennis Hagan and Mike Stoloski, they plan to continue achieving this season.
